“My Name is 張麟發 Tommy Lan Phat Truong 2.0” transforms a grassy field into an open-air classroom, where animated film, sound, and sculpture explore identity, memory and language across cultures. Visitors are invited to sit, listen, and reflect on the stories that shape who we are.
Memory, language, and identity come alive through film, sound, and sculpture in this immersive media installation. An animated film explores the artist’s personal journey of displacement, being caught between cultures, and growing up far from the place his family originally came from. The installation immerses visitors in a reflective atmosphere with soothing narrated storytelling and surrounding trees that echo scenes from the film. Sculptural cubes made of etched plexiglass — each illuminated from within — present fragmented moments of the film, allowing audiences to engage with the narrative from multiple perspectives. The film creates a quiet space for introspection and shared experience, encouraging audiences to revisit their own memories of belonging.
